Thoroughly Preparing The Next Generation

Mannafields Christian School provides a Christ-centred education for children from P1-S2 in the heart of Edinburgh.

Welcome to Mannafields Christian School

We provide a Christ-centred education for children so that together, we are upholding our vision of “Thoroughly preparing the next generation” (Ephesians 2:10), here in the heart of the City Edinburgh.

We begin at Infants right up to S2 and in August 2025 we plan to move S3 and then N4 and N5 by 2026.

About Mannafields Christian School

Our school provides a high quality curriculum that follows all the guidelines for the National Curriculum for Excellence in:

  • Numeracy and Mathematics;
  • Literacy and English;
  • Sciences;
  • Modern and Classical Languages (French, Latin and also Korean);
  • Health and Wellbeing (PE, Food, Life Skills);
  • Social studies and Technology
  • Religious studies.

Our curriculum is permeated with the character and Word of God, giving our young people preparation for life in the “real world”.

The learning and teaching pedagogy is classically oriented, and with our smaller class sizes, each pupil receives a high standard of academic skills where their talents and abilities are developed, while equipping then with the knowledge and skills necessary for adulthood.

We value pupils from all backgrounds and being a parent-run establishment, we have a great family atmosphere in the school.

Our aim is that all parents who wish their child to receive a Christ-centred quality education should be able to do so, regardless of their financial situation.

To this end, we offer bursaries to those who need them.

Parent’s Comments…

Lizzie Aylett

We have indeed found Mannafields to be a secure, nurturing environment that backs up the teaching and morals we have at home. It is in no way a bubble, but strives to prepare the children to live in the world for Christ. We appreciate the personal concern the teachers have for our children as individuals and the way they care for their needs yet push them to do their best and to honour God.

Why Mannafields?

Today, more than ever before, we can see that education is not neutral. Whether State or Private school, we are witnessing that the direction of travel is often geared towards a secular perspective, and quite often opposed to a Christian worldview.

Ultimately every Christian parent provides a level of Christian Education for his or her child to draw them closer to God. So why not extend this further by using a school where explaining the Bible, praying, providing love, nurture and discipline, along with a full and rounded curriculum, are being taught?

Ethos

We are a school where God and His Word take central place. We seek to know God’s Word and God’s world. After all, creation is held together in Christ, so no subject – scientific or artistic – can be separated from His revelation of Himself.

We have a firm commitment to personal values such as standards of behaviour, discipline and self-discipline, ethics, manners and practical Christianity. Good communication and collaboration with parents are seen as essential to the school’s ethos, not least as we seek to uphold the values of the family and share in the parental mandate to educate the children.

Values

Our community has high values for each of the component parts, all working together to blend into a harmonious, inclusive and respectful learning environment.
A

Pupils

We value our safe environment so we can learn and play freely, take part in leadership activities and find out more about God.

A

Parents

We value that our child’s education is primarily a parental responsibility, and so we commit support to both the management and maintenance of the School at all levels, and to sacrificial giving of prayer, time in school and finance.
A

Teachers

As the primary educator, we value teaching well prepared and engaging lessons where the pupils are fully engaged in their learning.
A

Board

We value active participation to support quality learning and teaching within a loving Christian content.

Mannafields’ Curriculum

We use a curriculum that operates around a three yearly cycle on the characters of God (e.g. God is Creator, God is Justice and Mercy etc). Whether a pupil is being taught geography or sharing their thoughts during a life-skills discussion class, our curriculum seeks to permeate God as the ultimate source of all subjects, wisdom and understanding. Pupils are shown how God’s Word is relevant to all areas of learning, life and experience, gradually building a Christ-like world-view which will help them to critique an increasingly secularised world.
